Well, with the powerful tool of computer 3D renderings and animation now, the use of a physical architectural model is greatly threatened.
But actually, nothing beats the wonder of gazing upon a real life miniature of what you have designed. Architects might not say it but it really pleases them to see their design materialized on a well-made architectural model. I have a friend who has his own model making company; it's not making mega bucks but there is still a steady demand for it. His passion and dedication to his finely honed craft makes even architects, engineers and interior designers take their hat off to his meticulous attention to details. If well-developed, it can be an enriching field to be in. However, take note that i am speaking from an asian country. The demand might be different elsewhere.
