I think you are onto somthing very important, --- I reconise cirtain scales, sizes of rooms ,floor arear compared how high the room was aso.
Having the luck to grown up in houses from 17' century, these measures I guess, will hount you the rest of your lives.
Except, ---- there are facts that will turn everything upside down ; most people se with both eyes and find an A4 sheet nice, still those with vision only one eye, will find the square nicest.
