In the sense that you mean your question, YES, **original** architecture IS only for rich people. While it is true that it takes someone to design any structure, the fact is that the majority of the housing in the Western world is designed by contractors/developers who create model designs and then vary them slightly for hundreds of copies. If an architect must bring in an average of $50 an hour to maintain his office and lifestyle, then obviously a person earning much less than that is in no position to really afford such services. True, much building is done by non-pesonal entities, and these have the funds to pay an architect, but more and more the services of architects (as with lawyers, physicians and other professionals) is beyond the reach of the common man, sad to say.
