I take the point. Cincinnati certainly has citizens who are proud of it and who leap to its defence. One injured party complained that my piece was a typical example of superior Europeans getting all snooty about the MidWest. How dare he call me a European!

But then - if an American critic said London (or perhaps Leicester, to give a truer regional comparison) was an ill-planned and badly governed mess, I don't think I'd throw a moody about it. I'd tend to agree.
