why? because our profs would like to see designs that are apt to modern times, considering the present situation of the environment and architecture in the phils. the point is to go beyond the bahay kubo ang bahay na bato but retain their essence (the thing that makes them Filipino) the case of my study, i must be able to invent an ideal prototype of a filipino community that can be used by builders, developers, etc. - a design of a house and a community that fits the Filipino culture, way of life, attitudes, etc. and of course, the Philippine demography.
