Good for you - most buildings are to be designed and used for a real purpose. They need real people to design them - not self-seeking little egos who want to be famous.

Perhaps the reason that so many houses are "cookie-cutter" designs is because the profession has become increasingly self-referential and (for the client) irrelevant.
