Hi
What do you mean that it is not possible to do with AutoCAD, AutoCAD is perfect for just that. Sure you need to program a few small applications in Lisp to do this , but please explain why you think AutoCAD can not offer the the platform for what you need to provide.
AutoCAD offer plenty of mesh entities and when you can unfold surfaces for boat hulls, you can also find the length of each vector forming a mesh and number it, ----- how do you think it was possible 10 years ago , to offer any unfolded surface for any design in this link, if each vector was not exactly calculated with AutoCAD, each angle even printed on sheet being double check for the accurancy down one hundred of a millimeter , please check the link at the bottom , you are welcome to contact.
