I have been following the WTC redevelopment and memorial competition (disclaimer: I am also an entrant in the competition). I have to say though, I find Strata's constant self-promotion to be distasteful in the extreme. Hate to be the one to point this out, but several thousand people died horrible deaths there, and to be so flippant in disregarding the families of the deceased, well that kind of speaks for itself.
But of course, it's not about the people who died, it's all about Mr Stratas and his prize winning presentation board. Somebody bring me a bucket, I am going to throw up.
I don't know about the other competitors, but I had a lot of reservations about sending something in, since so many people had to die in order for this to happen. I finally concluded the designs themselves are a memorial of sorts, and if mine ends up in the back of a book of proposals somewhere, that's a good thing.
