(playing devil's advocate): Why did you enter?
My answer: because I was compelled to because I couldn't do anything else to contribute. I donated $$ to the families funds, but that seemed hollow after the controversy of all the 9-11 funds. I wanted to make a genuine contribution.
I could care less if I win or recieve a single penny for my efforts. There are too many people who suffered, too many who are still suffering and too many grieving the events two-plus years later.
By the way: Have you had the chance to share your memorial proposal with your friends, family or those who lost loved ones in the attacks? What did you get out of the process? What were the reactions from those you shared your work with?
I don't know who William Stratas is, what his agenda may be or if you are correct in your read on his intentions. I hate that someone will obtain fame and noteriety as a result of this memorial competition: if it ends up to be me (long shot), I wouldn't know how to handle it for the very reason you cite. 3,016 lives were victimized and society will decide to make one person a celebrity as a result? Seems to me that the process is very bastardized.
