I am struck by the complete lack of sound and internally consistent philosophical or ideological positions backing current architectural production. Projects are considered solely on their individual functional, associational or technical merits. It may be a reflection of present society where centre right politics (however that is defined country by country) have led us away from the consideration of the individual as a spirit, an intelligence, to his/her relegation to a consumer, a recipient. It plainly has its knock-on effect in the desperate pleas for thesis advice presently a feature of this site.
