I'm a freshman environmental design major at Texas A&M University and the girl to guy ratio in the college of architecture for the freshamn this year in my major is closer to 1/3. This one girl for every three guys is not all that extreme of a situation and women here are becoming more accepted and expected as both the women and the school are discovering that the oppurtunities and possibilities for women in the field are great in number. For a field that used to be limited strictly to men, the growth of women learning the trade brings in a whole new design factor that men, or atleast straight men like myself, can't generate...I suggest if truly serious about the idea, there is little that will hold you back once in the field.
