That's funny. I took the exact opposite tack, for the same reasons you cited. My design hugs the ground like something new and potential. I was inspired, in part, by the JFK memorial in downtown Dallas. After maneuvering through a maze of concrete walls, you find an enormous, low platform inscribed with "John Fitzgerald Kennedy." As your eyes search for what should be on that platform, your mind screams "something is missing." And, of course, something is missing. The space allotted to what might have been can be a very powerful statement. I'm afraid my presentation did little to demonstrate what was in my head and my heart.
