here's how to check out how you feel about the industry:

do you want to work double the hours a week for half the pay that all your business school friends are making?

if so, then architecture is for you.

oh, but really, i'm 30, just lost my job (right down the block from FIT) because the firm didn't project far enough for new work and now looking to strike out on my own because i'm discouraged by the whole business and want to design my own work.

so i guess in the end, do it only if you love it. if you don't mind working long hours and living in a closet, but could not see yourself ever doing anything else than design, then do it.
