Three Things. . .
Thom Mayne once told me, after he'd completely ripped apart my thesis project, something to this effect: "only a project that is inherently good can produce this sort of analysis, work devoid of content yields no real criticism." You can look at architecture the same way; it's a rich profession, full of content and therefore easy to criticize.
I have friends in many professions, from Law to Medicine to Banking. They all complain, often worse than architects, about myriad "bad" things relating to their professions. Keep in mind that any reasonably intelligent and well educated professional who is capable of critical thought is going to look at this, or any other profession and make negative comments at times.
Don't let the snapshots of reality you get from this forum solidify your thought and opinion into a formal world view. You're not getting a complete picture. There are tens of thousands of people who are so in love with the profession that they are too busy to post messages to an online forum.
There are great things about architecture, and the profession needs positive people to move it forward. I love it here.
