I have taken 2 years of drafting (architecture and mechanical) at my school and I really want to buy a CAD program. I have used Ashlar-Vellum 4.0 and I love it. I usually design by hand but am really sick of going through graph paper like water. The Ashlar-Vellum I used (I THINK it's 4.0, but not positive)had a graph background option and a really unique measuring system (.25 per "square" on the graph). Are there any other programs out there that I could buy that are not TOO expensive? I'm willing to pay a few hundred, but the most basic Ashlar-Vellum programs start at $950...
