Hi. I recently stumbled across this discussion forum and thought this topic was particularly interesting. Have you ever read Thomas Barrie's "Sacred Space, Sacred Place"? It's a wonderful survey of the architectural content of numerous sacred spaces across cultures. I happen to be using his research as a basis for my current MFA work that explores how architectural form, movement patterns, color, and light serve as a metaphor for life cycles, transition, healing, spirituality, etc.. I'd be interested in finding out what you have discovered in your own work...it's always rewarding to hear other ideas on the topic.
