Your comment about form and design being simple...and without any symbols is right on. Less is truely more in this approach and you can throw away any preconceived notions about form following function too. The solution will not look like any Church or "House of God" you have ever seen before.

Frank lloyd Wright once said: "Space. The continual becoming: invisible fountain from which all the rythms flow and to which they must pass".

This space will need to fresh, visual and filled with the Holy Spirit from which ever religion your origins may come.

We are now living in an era driven by an ever quickening technology, ever changing social and political standards, values and stresses, with an ever-more swift and trying daily life for us all. I believe that people of this future will need a visual expression of spirituality, even more so than we have in our generation. They will be living at an unprecedented acceleration of experience and consciousness.

As architects we need to ask if we are aware of our responsibility to these people of the future? Are we meeting our responsibility in design, vision and finished work? In this millennium, we must have the courage and will to create a "new architecture" for the future. More than that we must have faith that change will bring a new vision to architect and client alike. Our Children and Grandchildren will be the recipients of this fresh vision. Then given this fresh visual experience that is alive, interesting and mysterious, I believe people will unconsciously grow in mind and spirit.

So put aside all your religous preconceptions and dogmas and ponder this thought while designing for the ALL-denominational in this competiton:

"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity." - Albert Einstein

Good luck to all the competition experts and Have a Happy New Year!
