You se glass is one side a box and very much boxy buildings can carry glass panels, even this is not the only way to use sheets like glass .
But even your material is sheet ,you can use this to form others than box shaped buildings.

Check this structure where the framework is easy cut in sheet steel producing a small not so boxy building ,as you se the structure are sliced together frame / sheet , you can also produce forms for a concrete form, then no assembly slots but a hell of strength, and lighe would enter from above.
