I like your analogy of the tragic events, along with the welcome inspiration regarding the attitudes of the rebuilding effort, but the scale of the war and the rebuilding of London doesn't compare to the WTC catastrophe, which was sudden, unexpected and impacted mostly the unaware public users and rescue workers, and took less than two hours to complete its destruction. Shock and awe was what we experienced on that day first and we are still seeing the images replayed on the media reminding us over one year later.

Nothing can compare to this destruction at the scale of a world financial icon, that most likely will ever be repeated in its everpresent grandeur. Yes we are all anxious and united in a common cause to see its replacement, just look at the number of submissions and efforts that were being pouring forth immediately to rebuild it. I just don't think the mood or the mourning will ever be over with from this terrible event...and thats why we memorialize this we don't ever forget.
