I think like Damian.
I was autocad user for 3 years.
After that, I start with archicad in 1997.
Since that time I am archicad user for all the days.
Because this is a software designed for architects only.

Autocad is very general, for all purposes.
Archicad is very especific.

In this software you can do:
1.-Drawings in 2D
2.-Modeles in 3D.
3.-beautiful Renders
4.-Calculate materials, costs,and others.
5.-Walk inside your 3D models.
6.-Save as *.DXF international exchange standart
7.-You will have intelligent objects for all your works(including 2D objects)
8.- You can make estructural plans, electrical plans, Instalations of water plans, details plans and others without troubles.

You need to go to, and ask for the student software and the training method.
