thanks shawn, i think your perspective is very interesting. coincidently my research topic is also architecture and power..however i am focusing on the architectural elements through which this coercion or expression is achieved. i have more or less managed to narrowdown these elements into 7points.
1. SCALE
2. FORM
a. Stable Forms.
b. Dynamic Forms
3. ASSOCIATION
4. ORIENTATION
5. CONTROL
a. surveillance.
b.Surveillance
6. TECHNOLOGY
7. SIMULATIONthis is how i believe that power is displayed or exerted...what do you think??
my theoretical understanding of power is based on J.K Galbraith's classification of power.
he states that any act of power is achieved through three mechanisms... condign, conpensatory, conditioned ways...while power has three main sources. personality, property and organization..everything can more or less be classified into these categories.
right now i am in the process of illustrating each of the 7 points with adequate examples.any feedback will be welcome.
thanking you.amrit pilo.
