Go to the web site linked below for a drawing and photos of glass block walkways. Most of what is shown is for interior applications.

Uisng glass block in an outdoor application would require special waterproofing details. Sheet glass, blocks, or tiles would need to be slip resistant.

Some colleges have heating pipes in underground tunnels. The heat helps to keep walks free of ice and snow.

You might consider making a concrete walkway with glass inserts at regular intervals.
