You are correct in your assumptions that the projects for China are $#!t...and it is a shame that the Chinese Government will pay famous architects for such work! IF that is the direction that the Chinese Clients gave to the Ego Architects, then blame only those in control from the clients side. But my guess is that the architect went full steam into a design whirlwind of ideas imposed on the client and without much feedback from an asian silent unknowing uneducated client! IF I were the Chinese Government Client, I would not pay them for their services and demand to have them meet the program that they want.
