We use archicad occasionally, vectorworks more often. #d is fun but rarely pays for itself unless you need it for presentation. - We are architects, we can model in our heads much faster than any software.
Vectorworks is a great 2d cad program, reasoably priced, the 3d module is not bad.
AutoCad is the most common software but IMHO inherently slow compared to Vectorworks. More keystrokes to accomplish the same task = more time to draw.
