Posted by Stephen Mitchell on February 28, 2004 at 04:50:35:I'm trying to help my son make his decision about which offer to accept for his UK-based architecture course - from Cardiff, Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool. Cardiff appears to short-cut the total time taken to qualify by 1 year - but is this a good thing? I feel he needs a strong structure to his studies as he is prone to being distracted by life's pleasures. All the schools say they do this but does anyone have practical experience? Another potential problem is the one of sudden withdrawal of the Association's approval partway through the course - as at De Montfort last year. I want to avoid this of course and would appreciate any opinions about the four schools and how secure they are in their standing in the profession and their University's commitment to architecture courses.
