here at Chicago's IIT (Illinois Institute of Technology) the opposite is true, especially during the first three years of undergrad studies. drafting techniques are practiced extensively, especially during second year. first year is pretty much intro to everything, including computer-aided design (FormZ). During third year, the design process goes off paper and onto computers with AutoCAD.
