I haven't followed this in detail but it is interesting that you mention the Dome. Battersea would have made a much better site (and the Labour Party had the chance to stop the farce when they got into government).

the tragedy with Battersea is that it has become an eyesore and might have been better demolished because of the importance of the site itself.

there are a series of the "gravy-train" projects - British Library, Dome, Scottish Parliament, etc. - where the figures spent become ludicrous. (Wembley Stadium has an estimated budget of 787million - seems quite high for a football stadium).

I agree 100% about British news - depressing and not even accurate. In fact that was one of the reasons that I started my service - because it only contains new work I thought that it might be seen as a "good news" service. Did it work ? I moved to France .......
