Just a quick note to say that I hear you brother.
I lived and worked in Manhattan for 4 years and held the same observations that you do as well. I am now 2 years removed from my Manhattan experience, still live in the US, but moved to a more suburban location.
I'm not boasting, but my mortgage payment on my 2000sf house is less than half of my monthly rent on a 600sf apartment on the Upper West Side.
I appreciate my Manhattan experience, but I appreciate my current lifestyle even more.
