Posted by william on February 27, 2001 at 16:28:38:Hi all,
I had to design a park in an urban area (about 200 by 1000 meters) and
have divided the park in different 'zones' with different atmospheres.
To 'link' all the zones, i have used repetative elements.
One of the elements are small building with different functions. They are all based on the same basics (much like B. Tschumi's 'Folies' in Parc de la Villette, Paris). Now the real question.
Are there justifications for the fact that they don't relate specifically to the environment ?In a way I make them appear as being autonomously. Let's say my teacher is going to say: "Well, if those buildings are not related to the area around, they can be placed anywhere in the world. Why would it work in your design on this specific spot ?"
Does anyone have arguements for this ?
Thank you,
william
