We are sponsoring a grassroots competition regarding Architectural Rendering. If you would like to have your work viewed by thousands of architects worldwide, consider entering this contest. No cost, we even supply the model. We want to know how you would finish the basic set-up.

Our group has spent a lot of time discussing the merits of our favorite rendering packages. Why not square them off against each other, for once?
Then, view the comparisons.
These would be published in Dwight's upcoming book on Illustration in ArchiCAD as well as in an article in a major architectural magazine. We'd also put them up on a web site for review.
Dwight's book is about making better renderings in ArchiCAD ( http://www.graphisoft.com ) and using whatever an architect needs to improve those images and to make ArchiCAD their own. To this end, he uses many rendering packages, but relies
mostly on Photoshop to personalize his work. What do you folks do?
Would you be willing to spend one spring evening to help us test the merits of your favorite rendering methods? We've prepared a model for a modest dwelling. It all comes to you in one archive file: You populate it, apply surface materials, light it and render two views:
One outside view and one interior view.
You send these modest renderings: 1024x768 to the contest's web location
You also keep a record of the kinds of time spent making the work:
Two categories: approximately how long it took you to humanly prepare the work, whether by applying textures and entourage or by work with Photoshop and how long the machine took to render the work. [You should tell us your
machine type and RAM so that we can understand the limits of today's computing power]ALSO:
A screenshot of the 3d program with the scene of the submitted work must be attached, to indicate the interface your software uses. A quick essay explaining your methods would also be appreciated. The contest seeks to review several approaches: top quality final renderings in any software, best ArchiCAD-only rendering and also most effective "design sketch": a simply made view that conveys a design feeling. You are free to propose your own category or approach: we want to see innovative ways computer images are made.
Any method is welcomed, from sketchy stuff to Piranesi surfaces.THE WORK:
Sign up and get the archive file from:
http://www.puffpac.com/SHOOTOUT/REGISTRATION.html
It will contain the full model that you will use.
The file will contain the camera viewpoints and rendering size information. You control the rest: assign materials, control lighting,
insert foliage and entourage as you see fit.We will award prizes and "Mentions of Notice" to the images we feel best illuminate the contest objectives: to excel in using software to illustrate, whether you are a "cheap and nasty" Joe [Blow] or a Refined Radiosity Rembrandt.
So far, prizes include:
Maxon's Cinema 4D GO retail value $195.

Bundle $100.00 value.
http://www.lightcalc.com3: publication in Dwight's upcoming book on Illustration on ArchiCAD and in an article on this contest in a major architectural magazine.
