I'm not an engineer but something in this reminds me of the Challenger explosion years ago; as I recall, the joints of the tubular booster rocket "rotated" around a rubber ring when the rocket pressurized; could something similar happen to the trade tower when a volume of jet fuel is injected, atomises and explodes on one or two floors, bulging out the exterior walls and thus separating the floor members from both the sheer plates and the rubber elements mentioned by ngon nguyen? In that case, wouldn't the exoskeleton both "save" the tower temporarily by resisting collapse but also by its density resist the expansion of exploding fuel and thus hasten the separation of the floors?
