I have 6700 miles of experience with my Prius.. I agree with everything Kevin said, and I'd like to add a few other points. (1) The Prius is very sensitive to added load. If you pile in a lot of 'stuff' in the trunk, and/or carry extra passengers, mileage will decrease. (2) The Prius is sensitive to total miles driven. It comes very 'tight', and as miles are added, the mileage will improve.. (3)The Prius is very sensitive to the incline/decline of the road. Just a couple of degrees of decline will substantially improve mileage..(4) My VERY BEST effort to date ( with a very lite foot and very careful driving) gave me 518 miles with one tank of gas, and 51.4 mpg.. I doubt that I could improve on that, and probably will not try... I still love MYPRIUS (local state tag)...John
