I agree with Kevin, get up to speed fairly quickly and then get off the pedal. Often when you back clear off and after a moment give it just enough to maintain speed, it will go to battery, but won't if you just moderately back off. In cold weather I get about 44-46 combined (75-80% highway) above 70F it suddenly jumps to 50+. At 80F I average 54-58MPG. Over 90F I get 55-60 WITH A/C running and 58-64 without A/C again with 75-80% at 60-70MPH. City in hot weather the mileage is fantastic. I averaged 76MPG combined on a trip to the Rockies last summer. I am glad I purchased this car last March, it has been a ball.
