Frank Kacmarcik died at Saint John's Abbey, Collegeville, Minnesota, on Sunday, February 2004. He invented the role of church design consultant based on his collaboration with Marcel Breuer who designed many of the important buildings on the campus.

The AIA made Kacmarcik an honary member in 1987. His priceless collection, Arca Artium
(www.csbsju.edu/library/speccoll/arca) was given to Saint John's University.
