Dear Jerud,

You are the one who let me know about Dome 4.6, so without you we wouldn't be able to offer so much help to others. Thank you very much.

As for making a solid dome, I have had some success at this. Create a DXF file of a dome with the desired properties using the Dome 4.6 software. Import the dome into DesignWorkshop. Choose the Edit menu, Select All command followed by the Arrange menu Group command. Then choose the Edit menu Scale command and scale the dome to the desired size.

Duplicate the dome and again choose the Edit menu, Scale command. Here you want to scale the dome down just a little bit to create the inner surface of the dome, so the diameter of this dome is about one foot smaller than the original dome.

Group the two domes into one and use the Trim Tool to trim the dome where you want it to start at the bottom. Now again with the Trim Tool, trim just below that line. Delete the remaining lower portion of the dome and Hide the upper portion of the dome.

You should now have a thin donut which shows the size of your dome where it ends. Edit the vertical dimension of this donut to ten feet. Turn on Snap To Handles, choose the Polyline Tool and trace one endcap of the donut so you trace all the inside and outside edges in a single polyline.

Delete the donut so you only have the polyline showing. Cancel the hide to bring the dome back into view. Move the polyline so it is right at the bottom of your dome. Select All, Group, Save the file and send it to the Merge Machine.

This rather involved process should result in a single object solid geodesic dome.
