Kevin:

Thanks for the quick response (again). You've probably noticed that there's another user following this too. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to help. I alluded to trying to use the faces tool in the previous post but was a little rushed and unclear. It had occurred to me to try just aligning to faces (although i thought it was since it was a 2D polyline, not that it simply didn't know it's own orientation). So yes, i use the faces tool to select the triangle, then doubleclick the arbitrary orientation tool, and i get the same results as before -- the axes coalign so that 0,0,0 is on the topmost vertex of the triangle. Which is halfway right! The axes are still "square with the world", though.

I appreciate your continuing to work on this problem -- thanks! I'd like to know if other users have this problem too, or if it's something about my specific configuration, DW version (1.8), or whatever. I have posted the file i've been using on my webspace -- it shows up as text, but you just have to do a save as. . . and give it a .dw extension to open it.
Please consider the other problem i have regarding the arbitrary axes -- i cannot manually drag and rotate them, although i can move them around in x-y-z directions. This may have something to do with the above problem?

Thanks for your time!

jerud
