Peter, the way I know how to do it (and I am no master!) is to 1.) zoom wayyyy in. 2.)select and pixel or two. 3.)go to "select>similar.
This will select all color similar to those pixels selected. You can then go to levels and tweak the black color down.This will only work if you have no similar colors ie no black fills. If the entirety of the drawing is in color except for the linework you should be good to go.
I imagine there is another option using a mask but I dont know how to do that....
