Chuck

I ask this out of curiosity if nothing else. I too, have problems opening big files. There is a delicate balancing act between system size, application memory allocation size, file size, and available memory.

Please share (and this might help others or Artifice help you too) for you MAC machine, not the PC:

How much native RAM?
Virtual Memory on or off and setting if on?
How much allocated to DW? (minimum and preferred)
How big is the file?
Was the file created on a MAC or PC?
Does i open sometimes?

Seems to me any cross platform app should seemlessly open cross platform files, like Photoshop does for instance.

The reason I ask is becasue I have varying sucess opening files. Sometimes I try, it quits and I try 3 or 4 times but usually get it open. For my situation I have actually created an extension set that is OS9All plus a few necessary items for DW to run and render. At this point I am not sure if it is the way I have allocated memory, a DW instability issue, or the file. Mike thought it was bad material defs but I do eventually get the files open as a rule so I don't think its that.

I am sure this won't solve your problem but might be a start ot getting a good answer without a ton of trial and error on your part.

Anyone have any thoughts?
