Jerud and Brian,
Predetermining the lengths and angles is a good approach too. I think Jerud is on top of the formula. Even though I'd probably race you with a quick turn by eye. However, don't let the one simple point slip by: make the angular adjustment to the 'elevation' orientation before making the angular adjustment in the 'plan' orientation. If the order is reversed, the working orientation in the 'elevation' view is not valid and skewing the ridge cap object will be the result. No matter which way you accomplish it, agreeing with Jerud that a building typically displays suitable symmetry, the 'Duplicate' and the 'Flip' functions can make a quick work for the rest of the ridge caps. In fact doing the longest one first may mean you can just 'Trim' off the tops for the others too.
See ya,
Jeff
