This quote describes something best done with a pencil. Where is the connect between childlike drawings (we do these by pencil) and the model you spend hours rendering?

It might be great to use fanciful models in an architectural course or competition, but in a little office building, if it is out of scale, it won't go on the lot and the representation is worthless.

I am just talking about a little more control. You make a roof (there we are again) and the question is "What slope is that" In Design Workshop you have no easy way of checking it or setting it. You know the shape and dimension of particular (often traditional or standard) constructions and you have to recreate these from primitive forms each time.

Granted, users have shown you can create just about anything. And I expect the DW interface for some is closer to the immediacy of the pencil than it is for me.as yet.
