Thank you for contacting Artifice about this.
The error you're getting seems consistent with something that shows up only in the Windows version of DesignWorkshop. DesignWorkshop will have difficulty rendering a model that contains an object with a zero-size opening.
A zero-size opening has no width or depth dimensions, so when you ask DesignWorkshop to shade, shadow cast or view the model in Lights &Textures, the program may encounter errors trying to render this opening.
Fortunately, there's a fast and easy solution available. Our online File Tune-up Machine can test for and remove zero-size openings.
To use this machine simply click the "Browse..." button. Then, using the dialog box that is displayed, locate and select your DesignWorkshop model file. Finally, back in your browser window, click on the "Submit Query" button.
Your file will then be uploaded to our server and tested. The Tune-up machine will report any errors it found and give you the option to repair the file or send it to us for further analysis.
Please give this a try and let us know how it goes.
If you continue to get the error -50, it would be really helpful if you could document one operation or series of commands that seem to lead to this error, so that we can focus on a single case at a time.
Please also let us know whenever you may have other questions.
