Gary,
Their was a recent release of Quesa which has to be good for the future of Artifice. That is the best news in regarding Artifice that I have seen in a long time. However it is disconcerting that Kevin is not on this board saying that Artifice is still in business. Obviously Artifice is in trouble because you, me Larry M., Angela, Bob S. and others would have been contacted by now saying they are OK.
I once talked to a guy from SketchUp who said this type of software has a limited user base and it is difficult to upgrade software because it is so expensive. Sketchup is where DW was about five years building a growing user base and taking the profits and spending money on upgrading. I am sure they will be running into the same problem as Artifice in the near future. A saturated user base with no new users to sell boxes to. Even though we are in a global economy their only so many of us.
Form z and others are doing well because they have tools to make objects for the large commercial products market ie nurbs. I think it is very interesting that Auto.des.sys is taking the strategy that is allowing users to develop tools and APIs for Form-z instead of doing it internally.
By the way I have Sketchup.
Ken
