An architect happened to observe unsafe practices while on a tour of the worksite. He then wrote a letter to the contractor and make a copy to the client.
Will such action be construed as taking a supervisory role 'voluntarily' as far as AIA 201 is concerned?
Thanks in advance.

No! The process you described is the proper one for the architect-- see a safety problem and identify it to the contractor, who does have responsiblity for safety. As I recall A-201 is specific that the Contractor is responsible for site safety [and in essence, is a place the archiect should not go].
Doing nothing is wrong [on the architect's part]; doing more places the architect is a bad liability situation, and the issue of "supervisory", etc. |
