Can you exactly define "space" in architectural way?

This is mine:
"Space is something that we can shap as user activities and needs with a support of their equipment."

You see if we mean a complete definition we have to put user factor such as user activities, user needs, user comfort.

Space is NY is the amount of it Given to large buildings.
A good book to read about it is The Poetry of Space which isn't about NY
but about places in homes that define the human condition amongst shelter which we call a house or more commonly refered to as space.

I would say...

"Space" is an area that can be dynamically molded to meet both functional and aesthetic needs in time. Cool

This is not good question. Space is perceived differently by different people so i think there is no definition. This is a matter of human senses.

I think that, as ricky said Space is perceived differently by different people.
From an architectural point of view:

A physical space (an area) which serves human beings is looked at:
how a space is defined (eg: projected, recessed, over head, texture, color)
how a space is articulated
orientation
scale
proportions
topography
geography

overall a space is defined accordingly..
gd luck;)

Regarding some type of concept of space, there was also a discussion in these forums on this topic which can be found by going back quite some time ago to a few links contained on this page:

HUMAN SPACE part ll

http://fireside.DesignCommunity.com/topic-15239.html

It seems some unique views on space are presented there.

(Note: There are also some interesting topics going on in the fireside forum.)
