So I am living in Toronto and part of the media industry and heavily interested in architecture and design. And definately like to surround myself in great design at home and elsewhere. Especially when I go out. Recently I visited The Spoke Club (www.thespokeclub.com)which is located on King Street downtown. And was thoroughly impressed with the beautiful building and the thought that has gone into the design of the interior... from the floors to the ceilings and furnishings.

Has anyone else been there? Or been anywhere similar? Or have suggestions?

No disrespect intended for your Toronto, but for myself and my wife, for really amazing architecture I would have to say Quebec City is one of the most breath-taking cities I have ever seen for beauty in all the Americas. Not to take away from Montreal, the Old Town there, nor have I been to Toronto, but as a twin-cities visit, the French Province takes my vote.

Maybe Rio gives a run for the money, in South America, but Quebec City and Montreal to me were breath-takingly beautiful in the old world style. Can I use the word “astonishing”?

Of course, Manhattan, New York City never sleeps, and is always a good bet, and has more neighborhoods and sights of all kinds.

I had a mini fun argument, and my wife kinda sorta agreed, that the French Canadiens of Quebec were so handsomely European beautiful, we joked... “if we ever took a separate vacation....and wanted to sample the Gaelic/Celtic/French local population, it would be Montreal or Quebec City...in our dreams!”

Another couple said the same about Copenhagen, they had the same reaction.

Strikingly beautiful people, fantastic food, refreshingly honest attitudes, it is a great vacation and dining spot!

Drove my cab tonight to Yankee Stadium, picking up a client.

Three different stories...

1. Massive, ever-growing, wonderful Asian influence in Major League Baseball today, growing every month, including Hideki Matsui of Japan crushing the final run for the Yanks, with a Canon ad behind him at home plate, and a Komatsu ad in the upper deck of right field, where the ball hit.

2. Alex Rodriguez, who I did not like, comes back from an injury to a losing team, then turns the whole franchise around, one with his bat, two by seeming to soak up all the noise and pressure and publicity, letting everyone else do their job magnificently! One guy changed the whole team, with the team winning 13 of their last 15. Hope it lasts.

3. And then, an amazing inspiring story I can't explain, amazing... crowds of youngsters, with their adult chaperones, holding Montreal Expo team signs, singing, chanting, boasting up their team, leaving the Yankee stadium at the end of the game. Wait, Montreal Expos weren't playing tonight!!!

It was Yanks versus Baltimore Orioles! Here were crowds of younsters getting onto a Sagamie (or Samagie??) buses, with Quebec plates, having enjoyed Yankee stadium, and rooting for a team that didn't play here!

So were they celebrating their end of school year, with a 5 hour trip from Montreal down to New York City, to celebrate their team, when it wasn't even playing?

What is with the international magic of baseball, the influence of one human to change the success of a franchise, if just for a moment, and the youth of Quebec, Canada showing their pride in someone else's stadium!

The world could be crumbling down, but youth conquers the world, sometimes just through baseball.

Hail Montreal!!! We owe you.

Foolish me. I have been reminded by a baseball fan, friend of mine...

"What planet are you on, Montreal doesn't have a baseball team, they became the Washington Nationals in ?? 2005".

Oooops!

So who were these wonderful Montreal Expos fans, in the Quebec buses?

Yes, I am confused.
