This is driving me nuts! I have tried everything I know. I want my dimensions in feet and fractional inches. The dimensioning tools are set to this. The drawing layout is set to this. The drawing tools place a feet and inches measurement but.......the ruler measures in decimal inches and the edit window shows decimal inches. I installed PCADD 8 and the new wild tools this summer but I have not used the program until now. Everything has changed just enough to be driving me NUTS!!

Bibienna:

Take a deep, cleansing breath. Relax.

Did you go to Layout: Drawing Setup: Units? In this menu dialog you get to set the units behavior. If that doesn't help maybe someone else has other ideas. The software behaves for me as I expect it to, not as you describe.

you might also try making your settings, saving the drawing, then closing it (or quitting) and reopening the document.

Thanks for your thoughts Mike and Matt.

I have gone to drawing layout--units, I have set the tools. And I just reset everything closed out the program and came back on. Still the same. The edit window and ruler show feet and decimal inches. The measuring tools show feet and fractional inches which is what I want.

I have drawn with powerCADD since version 4 or 5 I think....about 10 years. I thought I knew may way around just about everything but I can't get this to correct itself.

Do we think I need to reinstall the program?

Any more thoughts?

Are you running the most recent version of PowerCADD 8?

Given you said it's been quite a while since you've run PCadd it quite possible you simply have an out of date copy.

Should be version 8.1.2 if memory serves (i'm on my iphone at the moment and can't check)

If not contact Technical Support at Engineered Software, or your countries distributor, to obtain the most current version.

Under Preferences, click on the View Button ---
Display Accuracy Specified makes the edit window reflect its
numerical information rounded to the accuracy set in Drawing
Setup, Units. Placed dimensions are also rounded.

Hopefully selecting Display Accuracy Specified will at least get the Edit Window to reflect what you set under Layout:Drawing Setup:Units

Thanks Huc and How.

"Display Accuracy Specified" Did it! Very Happy

I vaguely remember something about this from a while back. Must have dropped out when I loaded in the update this summer.

Thanks forum. I always find a solution here.
