How come I can manipulate text on my laptop…

and not on my desktop mac? I own a Titanium G4 800 Mhz and a dual processor 1.25 Mhz G4, both using OS 10.3.3 and PowerCADD 6.1. I can change font type, size, etc in the middle of a text line while on the laptop, NOT on the other mac. I'm using the same fonts.
