Does anyone have a copy of the OrangePC 3.4.2 web installer? Or an updater for version 3.3?
I lost mine. I have the 3.3 install disk, but it won't install completely. I had this working before, but can't remember what I did with the 3.4.2 software, and can't find it anywhere.
OrangeMicro is gone, and the last time I talked to tech support, about 3 years ago, they told me the card was history. Too bad because I was running Windows NT with no problem. _________________ David Mousley

Thanks,
I tried that already, several times, but it quits after 1MB.
I e-mailed the site, no reply yet.
I've also posted several requests at other sites for help finding it. _________________ David Mousley

Thanks to ms and Derek, the OrangePC is installed, again, and running Windows NT.
The link ms posted is the source, why it didn't work for me is an issue to sort out another day. _________________ David Mousley

May I ask you, dwn, how you did install Windows NT?
I tried several times to update my Windows 95 to Windows 98, following exactly the information of the manual with no avail.
Inevitably at the upgrade restart of Windows 98 installer I was left in a limbo and I had to reset the installation.
Thanks
Mario

NT is the default install, that which the card & installer were configured for. I ran the updater and it installed without a hitch. I have 95 and 98 but the OrangePCi installer doesn't appear to recognize them. Dumping the preference file forces OrangePC to open the setups dialog which is where you select the Windows install disk images in the floppy drive popup. Somehow the configuration is locked into the Windows license originally purchased. There is info on the web and in the manual about custom installs but I'm sure that the license issue has to be satisfied first.
Beyond that, I know very little about the Windows operating system, and don't want to know.
Hope this is helpful.
From a dedicated Mac user that tried to make some PC user happy, that didn't know better. _________________ David Mousley

Thanks for replying and for the info you gave, but for unknownn reasons I don't succeed into upgrading my Win 95 system.

I have the original Win 95 easy install and a legal Win 98 installer, but not a Win NT.
Maybe that version makes the trick.

I also tried this many times assigning Floppy Drive A: to the Boot Image of Win 98 with no avail.

Sorry, where are the info on the Web?
I followed the instructions of Appendix B: Custom Windows 98 Installation.
Thanks, anyway, if you can give more help. |

OrangePCi Web Installer & Manual downloads . . .
http://www.mandrake.demon.co.uk/Apple/omweb/HowToUpgrade34.html
I couldn't get the download to work . . . if you don't get a 10.6mb file try emailing the web master/owner of the site, he'll email a copy.
A user's notes on installing Windows for the OrangePCi card . . .
http://www.bme.unc.edu/~hope/linx/mac/dosorange.html
You might try posting in other Mac related forums. I had several responses, but they weren't much use for my OrangePCi card. _________________ David Mousley

Thanks, dwn, for your info, but I have to surrender.
After a whole weekend spent creating "hard drive containers", selecting "disk images", modifying "autoexec.bat" etc., I couldn't update my Win 95 system!
I think that only getting a whole new working emulated Drive C (Win 98 or NT) could solve my problem.
I'm hesitating to ask you such a big favour, but if you can I would appreciate it much.
