Movement in architecture

How can i express the movement in architecture! apart from the rise and fall and difference in heights how can i define it! can it be done by the play of light and shadow! wud like to hear any opinion on it !

hi friend ,
movement plays a very important role in architectureand it can be created in many many ways .eg.producing movt. by creating focal points.it can be easily created using a set converging frames.such a kind of concept can be seen in religious buildings (like churches),auditoriums ,etc. where a focal point is neccesary to converge the audience's attention towards the speaker,or gods idols or whatever it mmay be.

thx so much for your reply but im still not very sure about the focal point thing, i mean if it is all based upon one certain point can it still be related to movement,,, can u make it clear to meh! im a beginner so it takes time to digest these stuffs.

focal points are specific points or regions in a space ,to which an observer in the space is
mostly attracted due to the the special effects of the arrangement of the architectural components in that space.ie the archiyectural components in such a space are oriented,or coloured in such a way that our vision is diverted to the focal point .thus an automatic movt.is created in such a space , in which the movt. of the eyes end in this focal point.give a google search for unlv libraries in to find further informations.

No...... the answere is easier than that. The only way to create movement 3dimensionaly (besides using movable parts) is through repetition of elements. having multiple features that relate to each other either through reflection or distraction force the eyes to follow the structural elements...by the way i just pulled this out of my ass

I HAD movement in mind when doin this design,,,,,,,and i created a pretty cool space just that it didnt look like it related to MOVEMENT-- accourdin to my professor.............ya i did some of hte repetition thing -tried to worked on the focal point thing but cudnt ----or did i not sure! neways thanks for givin me ideas - appreciate it a lot
