As a new PowerCADD user, I was hoping some of you power users might offer some printer advice. I am in the market for an inkjet printer that will handle plan paper sizes up to 13" wide (24" to 50" long), with occasional photo printing and general office printing. My current HP970 is obviously limited in capacity.

My system is a new 17" G4 Powerbook, (OS 10.3.4). My office home/office network contains, Mac and PC (XP & ME) machines. I would like to network the printer, or at least have a USB interface to the laptop. My wife might be upset if I spent much more than $600 for this printer Very Happy

The Engineering Software folks suggested I try this forum for suggestions because, of course, successful printing of PowerCADD documents is the primary objective.

I apologize if this subject has been covered numerous times before.

Thanks in advance Exclamation

You want something a bit out of the ordinary, so I will suggest the only source I know who reviews and reports on these things:

http://www.flaar.org/

On their main page you will see a whole list of printer & plotter review sites they maintain. Its part of Bowling Green State University.

They have pdf reports on a wide variety of choices.

Any of the large format ink jets will do a good job, I use a Canon i9100 and the newer version of this priinter is verry good also.

Printing is not a problem! Plotting is a problem with OS 10.3 or any OSX. People at PowerCADD never, ever understood the difference and never considered any solution.

Matt,

Printing is something you do on a computer and plotting is something done quietly in small, candle lit rooms with coconspirators.

Derek's another of those clever Aussies! He knows how to think upside down as well as inside out!

Matt, when you find out the difference between printing and plotting with today’s computers please let me know.

"Printing" is what Mac users do so routinely they mostly don't have to think about it, and "Plodding" is ... uh ... what you suffer with ... along with weekly security breaches, etc. elsewhere...
